Iridium Spark Plug

A premium spark plug with an ultra-fine iridium center electrode (0.4-0.6mm) that provides superior ignition, longer life, and better fuel efficiency.

What Is an Iridium Spark Plug?

An iridium spark plug uses an ultra-fine iridium alloy center electrode (0.4-0.6mm diameter) that requires less voltage to fire, produces a more focused spark kernel, and resists erosion far longer than conventional copper or platinum electrodes. Iridium is the hardest naturally occurring metal with a melting point of 2,454C.

Benefits

Longer service life (80,000-120,000 km), improved fuel efficiency, more complete combustion, better cold-starting, and reduced emissions. BRISK iridium spark plugs are available from SMS Bearings for UAE's automotive aftermarket.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is iridium better than platinum spark plugs?

Iridium is harder (6x harder than platinum) and has a higher melting point (2,454C vs 1,768C), allowing a finer electrode tip (0.4mm vs 0.8mm). The finer tip requires less voltage to fire and produces a more concentrated spark. Iridium plugs typically last 80,000-120,000 km vs 60,000-100,000 km for platinum.
